Many illnesses can be treated at home (especially colds and flu).
Keep your medicine cabinet well stock with treatments for many
common illnesses such as coughs, colds, sore throats, diarrhoea and
vomiting. Pharmacists can also give advice on many common illnesses
and allergies.
If you do need urgent medical advice outside of normal surgery
opening hours, please contact Bath Emergency Medical Services on
03000 33 99 33. Calls will be answered by nurses and triaged as
appropriate.
For Minor Injuries outside of normal surgery hours, Paulton Hospital
has a minor injuries unit open 24 hours a day 7 days a week (tel
01761 412315) or you can visit the NHS Walk in Centre in James St
West, Bath open 8am-8pm 7 days a week (tel 01225 478811) - no
appointment necessary.
For acute emergencies, i.e. choking, chest pain or blood loss you
should attend the emergency department or call 999 but please
remember that emergency services are extremely busy and should only
be used in very serious or life-threatening situations.
